From racetrack inspiration to milk collection: Van Der Mierden Transport of the Netherlands has taken delivery of a unique ‘DAF XD Electric’. The one-off vehicle will be used for transporting dairy.
Van Der Mierden Transport of the Netherlands has taken delivery of an exclusive DAF Electric Race Truck for milk collection transport.
The fully electric tractor unit is inspired by the iconic DAF racing truck from 1996. The sensational-looking vehicle combines a striking design with the latest zero-emission technology. The truck will be deployed by Van Der Mierden Transport for milk collection transport, an application that is perfectly suited to the many possibilities offered by an electric truck.
Distinctive truck The DAF Electric, specified by DAF Netherlands and delivered by DAF dealer Truckland, features the appearance of the DAF Race Truck from the 1990s. The vehicle is based on a DAF XD 350 FT 4x2 tractor unit, the ‘International Truck of the Year 2026’. The truck is visually distinguished by a unique colour scheme and striping that refer to the famous DAF race truck. The special XD Electric is equipped with a 350 kW (480 hp) driveline powered by a 525 kWh battery pack, enabling a range of more than 500 kilometres on a single charge, depending on the application.
‘A deliberate choice for sustainable transport’ Van Der Mierden operates several special vehicles within its fleet. When the company learned about this eye-catching truck through DAF dealer Truckland, its interest was immediately sparked. “With this DAF, we demonstrate that sustainability, operational practicality and a distinctive design go hand in hand,” said Julian van der Mierden, Managing Director of Van Der Mierden Transport. “We deliberately chose an innovative and sustainable electric solution that can be deployed directly in day-to-day operations. Like our customers, we care about nature and the future of the next generations.”
Specialised in dairy transport Van Der Mierden Transport has been in business for more than 60 years and is a true family-owned company. The business started with a horse and cart, collecting milk churns from local farms. Today, its state-of-the-art fleet consists almost entirely of DAF trucks. The vehicles no longer only transport fresh milk to processing plants, but also carry dairy raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products throughout the Netherlands and beyond, using insulated tank trailers among other equipment.
